BIO

Barbara Ziselberger (b. 1959, Syracuse, New York) invites the viewer to slow down and appreciate the stunning imperfections in objects we encounter every day. She incorporates and elevates the detritus of daily life into her works along with handmade paper, paint, and ink. Her love of the outdoors led her to examine her own behavior related to consumerism and to investigate themes of consumption, waste, and decay while creating works that explore states of transformation, renewal and the fleeting nature of life.

She is a 2024 recipient of the Artists & Scholars Project Grant from the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, MD. In 2024 her first solo show, The Materiality of Collage, opened at the Sandy Spring Museum, in Sandy Spring, MD. In 2022-2023 she collaborated with a small group of artists to produce group exhibitions consisting of twenty-five plus works each month. Her art has also been featured in numerous group exhibitions, both locally and online.

She currently lives and works in the Washington DC area and maintains a studio in Kensington, MD. In recent years she exhibited in group shows locally and online and was featured in online independent art journals Chapter 89 Magazine and Toombes.
